Abstract :

Solid waste dumping is a serious problem in the urban areas and it is more serious if the area is situated in forest and ecologically sensitive areas such as Pachmarhi. The main objective of this study was to identify the potential areas suitable for solid waste dumping sites for Pachmarhi town and its surroundings. The main data used for this study were Liss-III Images with a spatial resolution of 23.5 m; digital elevation model (DEM) with 30m spatial resolution, and ground control point (GCP) collected by ground point survey (GPS) and topographical map of the study area. Multi criteria analysis methods along with the remote sensing techniques and geographic information system (GIS) were used to derive the results. Arc map was used to finalise the areas levelled as high, moderate, less suitable, and unsuitable regions of the study area. The results indicate that most of the area comes under unsuitable and only 4.04 % is suitable. The selected areas fall on north to east of the town where slope gradient is low, surface water bodies absent and forest degraded.

Abstract :

In this paper, we have considered heat and mass transfer on the MHD free convection flow of second grade fluid through porous medium bounded by an infinite vertical porous rotating plate taking hall current into account. The vertical plate is subjected to the uniform constant suction perpendicular to it and the temperature on the plate varies with time about a non-zero constant mean while the temperature of free stream taken to be constant. The precise solutions for the velocity, temperature and concentration are obtained making use of perturbation technique. The velocity, temperature and concentration is analysed graphically, and computational results for the skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also obtained.

Abstract :

We have considered the MHD flow of an incompressible fluid with heat and mass transfer over a vertical plate in the presence of magnetic field with Soret and Dufour effects, chemical reaction and a convective heat exchange at the surface with the surrounding has been studied. The similarity solution is used to transform the system of partial differential equations and an efficient numerical technique is implemented to solve the reduced system by using the Runge-Kutta fourth order method with shooting technique. The results are presented graphically and the conclusion is drawn that the flow field and other quantities of physical interest are significantly influenced by the flow parameters.
