Strength of material is the study of material’s performance under various types loads or stress and strain conditions. The study can be extended from one dimension to two dimension and three dimensions. In other words Strength of material is defined as ability of material to sustain an applied force or pressure without plastic deformation or failure.
The study of Strength of materials is important in finding the performance of materials under different conditions of working i.e. use and environment. The application of strength of material is in all fields of engineering whether it be civil , mechanical, aerospace, electronics engineering or computer engineering.
